Welcome to Dunbrae

Dunbrae should have been a place of peace.

Perched along the rugged coast of Nova Scotia, the small fishing village is the perfect refuge for Richard Gauthier, a tired detective from Montreal.  Dunbrae is a place to repair an old house, ride the cliffs  and beaches with his horse, and leave the troubles of his life behind.

But when they discover that respected chandlery owner Gideon Bell has been murdered aboard a fishing boat, the quiet village plunges into turmoil.

The local authorities were overwhelmed, and suspicion fell on more than one villager, so they reluctantly pulled Richard into the investigation. The magistrate gives him a helper, since he is still not a trusted member of Dunbrae. Janet Frazer, his neighbor, who seems to have secrets of her own.

Soon, he uncovers hidden truths beneath Dunbrae’s weather-beaten charm.

Richard discovers that solving Gideon’s murder may be far more complicated than anyone imagined. But the truth waits in plain sight, concealed not by distance, but by what people choose not to see.

The tide carries some secrets. Others refuse to stay buried.
